Discover Scuba Diving – 1 Dive

$130 per person | 3 hours | No certification required | Minimum 1 person

Never dived before? Perfect. You start in the pool, where your instructor introduces the gear and teaches you how to breathe and move underwater. Once you’re comfortable, you head out for your first real dive on a shallow reef, 15–20 feet (4.5–6 m) deep, with your instructor at your side the entire time.

Included: pool session, one guided dive, instructor, and full scuba equipment.

Discover Scuba Diving – 2 Dives

$165 per person | 4 hours | No certification required | Minimum 1 person

Want more time with the fish? Add a second dive. By then the gear feels natural, so you can focus on the coral and the tropical fish all around you. The second dive costs just $35 more.

Included: pool session, two guided dives, instructor, and full scuba equipment.

Both Discover Scuba experiences: minimum age is 10. Before the activity, every participant completes the PADI medical questionnaire; a “yes” answer may require a doctor’s approval.

Certified Divers – 2 Dives

$145 per person | 3 hours 30 minutes | Certification required | Minimum 2 persons

Already certified? Two guided dives take you along vertical walls, through underwater canyons, and over coral formations packed with life.

Roatán’s south coast is home to two of the island’s best-known sites. Mary’s Place is a series of deep crevices, carved by ancient geological forces, that slice through towering walls of coral. Cordelia Banks is a vast field of staghorn coral, named for branches that look like deer antlers, and home to an incredible variety of fish.

Dive sites are selected based on sea conditions and the group’s experience, so we can’t guarantee a specific location. When group size and availability allow, some outings sail aboard one of the center’s 50-foot sailing catamarans.

Solo divers are also welcome when other certified divers are already booked for the same day. Please contact us to check availability for your preferred date.

Arriving by Cruise or Staying on the Island?

Dixon Cove is close to both cruise ports. We arrange private round-trip transfers from Mahogany Bay or Coxen Hole, with timing coordinated to your ship’s schedule and a safe buffer to get back before departure. Transfers are also available from hotels and resorts. Transportation is not included in the prices above and is quoted separately based on your pickup location.

Dives are operated in partnership with Wikkid Resort Diving, a PADI Five Star Dive Center. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your scheduled dive. All dives are subject to weather and sea conditions.

Requirements

1. Discover Scuba Diving: No previous diving experience or certification required. Minimum age: 10 years.
2. Certified Divers: A valid scuba diving certification is required.
3. Medical questionnaire: All Discover Scuba participants must complete the PADI medical questionnaire before diving. A “yes” answer requires a doctor’s clearance.
4. Participants under 18: A parent or guardian’s signature is required.

Safety

1. All dives are supervised by qualified instructors or professional dive guides from a PADI Five Star Dive Center.
2. Discover Scuba participants receive pool training before their first ocean dive.
3. All participants must follow the instructions of the dive professionals.
4. Dive sites and activities are subject to weather and sea conditions.
5. Medical clearance is required when indicated by the PADI medical questionnaire.

Transportation: Private round-trip transfers are available from Mahogany Bay, Coxen Hole, hotels, and resorts. Transportation is quoted separately and is not included in the diving prices.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I go scuba diving in Roatán during my cruise stop?

Yes! The dive center is located in Dixon Cove, on Roatán’s south coast, with access from both Mahogany Bay and Coxen Hole cruise ports. Private round-trip transportation can be arranged and is quoted separately. We’ll coordinate your diving experience with your ship’s schedule, allowing sufficient time to return before departure.

I’ve never tried scuba diving. Is Discover Scuba right for me?

Absolutely! Discover Scuba is designed for first-time divers. You’ll begin with a pool session to learn the basics and get comfortable with the equipment before heading into the ocean with your instructor. No previous experience or certification is required.

Should I choose one dive or two for my first scuba experience?

If you’re curious about scuba diving, the one-dive experience is a great introduction. If you’d like more time exploring the reef, the two-dive package gives you a second guided dive for just $35 more.

Can I dive at Mary’s Place or Cordelia Banks?

These are two of Roatán’s best-known south coast dive sites and are featured on the certified diver outings. Discover Scuba participants cannot dive at these sites because full scuba certification is required. Dive sites are selected according to sea conditions and the group’s experience, so we cannot guarantee a specific location.

Are there any medical requirements for first-time divers?

Yes. Discover Scuba participants must be at least 10 years old, and participants under 18 need a parent or guardian’s signature. Everyone completes the PADI medical questionnaire before diving. If you answer “yes” to any question, or if you’re not sure, a doctor’s clearance is required.

What happens if my dive is canceled because of the weather?

If your dive is canceled due to weather or sea conditions, your deposit is fully refunded.
